Thank you love these! I’m obsessed with resort wear
Thank you so much! We’re so glad you love them. Resortwear is such a fun category to sew because the fabrics, silhouettes, and styling options are endless. We can’t wait to see what you make!
Love the Marisol Jumper. Any tips for sewing with rayon, needles, thread weight, etc. It is slippery and I like to sew with cotton or linen, so this might be a bit of a challenge
Hey Susan! You can use the same Gutermann Sew All Thread that we use in most of our patterns, even for a slippery silk or rayon fabric. For needles, I would recommend a size 70 microtex needle. These are super sharp and super thin and meant for fabrics that get thread pulls easily. I also recommend using tons and tons of pins both while cutting out the fabric and while sewing because it will make sure your pieces don’t move and warp before they’re sewn into place.
What have you done? These patterns are so cute! You have tempted me into buying More Fabric!
Looks like our plan worked perfectly! Consider it a public service to keep your fabric stash well stocked. Happy sewing!
I would love to see age appropriate patterns that are directed to those of us over 60.
Most of your patterns are lovely however, not all of us who sew are in our 20’s & 30’s. Thank you.
Hi Bobbie Jo! We really appreciate feedback like this and have some upcoming patterns that I believe are catered more towards the more mature sewist. I can’t wait for you to see them and try them out.
I agree at 68 I wouldn’t be caught dead in many of these looks. I live in San Antonio, Tx where it is hot most of the year. Breezy , lightweight clothes are a must from February to October.
There is no ” age appropriate ” anymore. Thankfully as grown women we can wear whatever makes you feel beautiful. I’ve found since turning 50 10 yrs ago) I just don’t care what anyone else thinks I should or should not be wearing bc I am age. You gets to decide what is appropriate for you and no matter what it is you will be BEAUTIFUL!!!! ❤️
Good to know that I am not the only one thinking that way. I still do not want matronly though.
I agree. Would love to see age appropriate stylish patterns for 60+
I am in the 60+ age group also. I love to sew dressy shorts, palazzi pants, and dresses for resort wear. I especially love to see your fabric recommendations for resort wear patterns. Looking forward to seeing more!
im 62 and i would wear any one of these..the only thing i would do is adjust on some tops so my stomach doesnt show
Hi Maria thank you so much! We’re so glad you enjoyed the resortwear patterns
That’s the beauty of sewing, you can always make small adjustments for the perfect fit and comfort. Customizing the tops to suit your style is a great idea!
We’d love to see what you create. Be sure to share with us using #MadeWithMood for a chance to be featured!
Hello,
When you make a toile, using it to adjust the fit, how do you then translate those changes back to the flat pattern? I realize I’m probably the only one who doesn’t know this! So I appreciate your help. Thanks!
Hi Karla! You’re definitely not the only one wondering this, it’s a great question. When you make adjustments on a toile, the easiest way to translate them back to the flat pattern is to mark the changes directly on the toile (pinch, draw, or slash where needed), then transfer those adjustments to the corresponding pattern pieces by measuring how much was added or removed.
We’re actually working on more beginner sewing guides, so tutorials like this may be coming soon!
Love these, I would love to see some runway remakes for us in our early 20s trying to sew our whole wardrobes with stylish pieces
Hi Ally! We love that idea. Runway-inspired remakes are such a fun way to build a stylish handmade wardrobe. We will keep this in mind for upcoming sewing patterns.
Love your styles. What about resort wears for men? Is there something in progress? And maybe in bigger sizes, too?
There are too less patterns for men, even in bigger sizes.
Lovely Greetings from Germany
Hi Guido! Great question. We do currently offer some men’s and unisex free sewing patterns, which you can browse here: https://blog.moodfabrics.com/category/free-sewing-patterns/menswear-unisex-patterns/ We’re always working on expanding our pattern library, so suggestions like resortwear styles and more size-inclusive options for men are really helpful.
Apart from the age appropriate comments above – to which I agree,… despite being subscribed, I am unable to download any of the free patterns you send me – can you tell me why this is?
Hi Mags! For our free sewing patterns, you’ll need to enter your email directly on the specific blog post for the pattern you’d like to download. This step is required for each individual pattern and is separate from our general email subscription list.
Once you submit your email on the pattern’s blog page, the A4 download should be emailed to you. If you’re still having trouble or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our patterns team at patterns@moodfabrics.com, and they’ll be happy to help!
