Find Your Perfect Fit
The size guide below is based on the suggested design & wearing ease for this style. You can choose the size according to your desired finished garment measurements, blending between sizes as needed. Measure the printed patterns to make sure the dimensions are according to the desired fitting and adjust—if needed—before cutting the fabric. For best results, sew a test garment in a similar fabric to adjust your pattern.
Note: Measurements may vary after adjustments. If using non-stretch fabrics, reference the approximate finished garment measurements chart to choose your size.

Wao, verdad pretty, I like
Thank you, we are happy to hear!
Is the reason for this design at an XL size to have five yards of a 55″wide fabric because of the directional print you chose? It seems excessive even with an A line silhouette and a ruffle.
Hi Arlee! We used 3.5-4 yards to sew a size small Vero Beach Dress. We created the binding and straps with the same fabric used for the dress and we gathered the bottom panel of the dress—all which require a little more fabric than typical. The dress is also a loose-fit and is meant to hang away from the body in a rippling fashion. To get an exact idea of the required yardage for your size, we recommended printing and assembling the pattern and laying out the pattern pieces as you would on your fabric, then measuring the length and width of the spread out pattern pieces (keeping in mind, any pieces that are cut more than once or just on the fold). The Mood Exclusive Sustainable Viscose and Linen Woven we used is 55″ wide. Happy Sewing! ✨
So cute.. Looks so comfy and I see a whole lot of pattern fabrics. I’m definitely doing this.
So many prints and colors to choose from! Happy sewing 🙂
Thank you for the lovely pattern. Am I missing something — where do I find the pattern layout on the fabric? Or am I supposed to figure out the best layout for my fabric? Thanks for your help
Hi Anne! Yes we recommend folding the fabric long ways (selvage to selvage) to get the most out of the fabric, but you can place the pattern pieces in any way you can to make them fit on your fabric.
Thank you!!!!
You’re welcome, enjoy!
As a very VERY beginner – like pillowcases and scrunchies level of beginner – how hard would it be to modify the back to match the front? Not a fan of bare back dresses.
Hi Abi! It’s fantastic you’re eager to customize the Vero Beach Dress! You can definitely modify the back to match the front by cutting two “Front” (B) pattern pieces for the main dress body (instead of one front and one back). You’ll also want to use the “Front Neckline Binding Tape” (D) for both necklines. It’s important to review both the front and back pattern pieces for any other differences besides the neckline before cutting your fabric. For best results, we highly recommend sewing a test garment in muslin or a similar inexpensive fabric first. This lets you check the fit and practice before cutting into your final fabric!
This dress is gorgeous! Thanks for the great pattern!
Thank you! We hope you enjoy making this amazing pattern!
Would also make a great nightdress
Wow, that is very true!
Perfect pattern for summer! Thank you very much, Please Please more summer dresses !!
You’re very welcome, we hope you enjoy!
Thank you for your patterns. They are gorgeous. I want to ask a detail. While preparing your patterns, what is the standard model height you use? I am a short person. Could you please share this information so I can make the necessary adjustments?
Thank you so much for your kind words about our patterns! We’re so glad you find them gorgeous. We draft our patterns for a standard model height of 5’10” (178 cm). Knowing this should definitely help you make the necessary adjustments for your height. Happy sewing!
Love this dress, currently making it! I have a question about the shoulder straps though! In the pictures it look like the straps tie and there is extra length on both sides but the pattern only has you cut 2, am I missing something or should the number be 4 not 2?
Yes, this pattern requires 4 straps, 2 in the front & 2 in the back. The straps will tie at the shoulder and can be adjusted.
Hi Mood! I can’t wait to try this pattern, but I would love to try it even more if I could get it in A0 format!
Thank you for your interest! We often get requests for A0 size printing. We appreciate you letting us know this is important to you, as we’re always working to expand our offerings and hope to provide more formats in the future, your feedback helps us prioritize these improvements! Happy Sewing!
I keep seeing this dress everywhere! So glad to have a plus size pattern available! You have been putting out beautiful patterns lately! You are inspiring this very tired out sewer to become eager to sew again!
Hi! This pattern is beautiful, and I am getting ready to print it now. My question is, do you not have layers in PDF so that we can print our exact size? Thanks!
Hi Talisha, Unfortunately we only offer 8.5×11 print format with the layered pattern sizes, but we really appreciate feedback like this to help us prioritize new additions to the blog in the future. This is definitely something we’re talking about and planning.
Hi, I have a quick question. Where do I find the suggested yardage for the sizes? I probably missed it on the pattern. Apologies if that the case. I am hoping to make a few of these for night gowns since I live in a warm climate.
Hi RoxAnne, the recommended yardage can be found in the “Shop This Look” Widget on the righthand side of your screen. Just select the size you plan to use to make this garment and it will tell you how much fabric you need.
Just perfect thank you
Thank you
Thank you
I too don’t care for bare back dresses. How,do I adjust the arm holes using the, front piece as both back and front?
Hi Neala
You can simply use the front pattern to cut both, back and front 🙂
thank you
Could this pattern be used as a maternity dress?
Yes totally, this would be great for materinity.
As a beginner, I’m very excited to try this pattern. I’m looking for a different pattern/color and I’m having trouble finding other Viscose and Linen woven fabric options on your site. Would Linen and Rayon woven fabric work well for this pattern too?
Yes absolutely! Linen and rayon are both great options for this dress. Plus, this is a great pattern choice for a beginner!
Thank you
This is a very cute dress but I came to a road block when the pattern said to cut out two straps but I really needed 4 luckily I had enough fabric to piece together two more straps
To reduce the length 6 inches for us short people, do you recommend cutting 3 inches off both the ruffle panel and dress body? Or take it all off the dress body?
Hi Melissa
For the design of this dress, it really depends on your preference. If you want to keep the look of a large ruffle without losing visual proportion, I recommend reducing 4.5″ from the dress and only 1.5″ from the ruffle 🙂
would 100% cotton work as well? maybe 800 thread count?
Absolutely, that would be perfect for this pattern.
Krásný den, moc děkuji ♥️

Love this dress !
I love this dress
made this dress. super easy. made the biggest size. did not need 5 meters, one queen bedsheet was enough with some to spare. the dress and ruffle were too long so i shortened those, and the biding while made on the bias does not have to be in large strips and can be pieced together from scraps.
Love your outfits
