The Telluride Asymmetrical Top is comfortable enough to become an everyday favorite, with just enough drama to turn heads wherever you wear it.
Its sculptural silhouette features an elegant draped high neckline, soft shoulder ruching, and a striking asymmetrical sleeve and hem. The result is a design that looks sophisticated but is surprisingly straightforward to sew. Ours is made in a buttery soft stretch polyester crepe double knit. It’s easy to work with, comfortable to wear, and available in 13 other vibrant colors if hot pink isn’t your style.
One of the best things about the Telluride Asymmetrical Top is how differently it looks depending on the fabric you choose. In a crepe double knit, it has a polished feel that’s perfect for dinner, date nights, or paired with tailored pants for a creative office. Sew it in a stretch mesh or lace layered over a camisole or bralette, and it becomes a light, modern top for warm weather. Make it in sweatshirt fleece or a cozy sweater knit, and it transforms into a bold piece that’s right at home in cooler seasons.
Because the design does most of the styling for you, it’s easy to wear with pieces you already own. Pair it with wide leg trousers, your favorite jeans, or a fitted skirt and let the asymmetrical details take center stage.
If you’re looking for a project that’s quick to sew and delivers a distinctive finished garment, the Telluride Asymmetrical Top just might become one of the most versatile patterns in your wardrobe.

You can also choose the size according to your desired finished garment measurements, blending between sizes as needed. How to Sew The Telluride Asymmetrical Top
The instructions provided below are designed to guide you through sewing the Telluride Asymmetrical Top from start to finish.
3 Tips for Sewing with Polyester Crepe Double Knit
⇒ Use a ball point/stretch needle to prevent skipped stitches and thread pulls.
⇒ Sew all the seams in the garment with either a zigzag stitch, a lightning stitch, or a straight stretch stitch to prevent the thread from breaking when you stretch the fabric.
⇒ Stretch the fabric slightly while you’re sewing.
Sew with a 1/2″ seam allowance for all seams unless otherwise specified.
Step 1
WAIST TIES
- Cut two strips of fabric that are 2 inches wide and at least twice as long as your waist measurement (if that wasn’t clear, EACH tie needs to be at least twice the length as your waist).
- Fold the strips in half longways right sides together.
- Sew each strip into a closed tube.
- Flip the tubes right sides out using a loop turner.
- Press the ties flat with an iron.
Step 2
SHOULDERS
- Place the front and back top pieces right sides together with their shoulders lined up.
- Pin both the short shoulder and the long shoulder.
- Sew the two sides of the shoulders.
- Press both shoulder seams open and flat.
Step 3
SIDE SEAM
- Pin the front and back pieces together at the side seam under the arm hole.
- Sew the side seam of the top.
- Press the side seam open and flat.
Step 4
NECKLINE & ARMSCYE HEMS
- Fold the raw edges of the arm hole and neck hole toward the inside of the top.
- Press the ½ inch folds into the neckline and armscye.
- Pin the folds in place.
- Sew around the neckline and armscye with a stretch stitch.
Step 5
ATTACH TIES
- Mark the absolute smallest part of the waist from the outside of the top.
- Transfer that marking to the inside of the top. This is where your waist ties will be sewn.
- From the inside of the top, overlap the ends of the ties and pin the “X” to the smallest part of the waist on the inside of the side seam.
- Sew a stitch in the ditch of the side seam over the waist ties to attach them to the top.
Step 6
ELASTIC
- Mark the location of the beginning of the shoulder gathers on the long sleeve of the top (mine was 3 inches out perpendicular to the collar).
- Pin one end of the elastic there.
- Pull the elastic almost as much as it can stretch.
- Pin the other end of the elastic down the shoulder where it was able to stretch.
- Stretch the elastic so that it is flat against the shoulder and place a pin in the middle of it, going through both the elastic and the fabric.
- Keep repeating the previous steps until the whole piece of elastic is pinned to the shoulder seam.
- Sew over the elastic from the right side of the top, making sure to STRETCH the elastic while sewing it.
- Sew another stitch on the elastic parallel to the first one you sewed.
Step 7
HEM
- Peel one side of the paper off of a piece of Heat & Bond fusible web adhesive.
- Press the sticky side of the web into the hem of the top. Repeat until the entire hem is covered with the paper side of the web adhesive.
- Peel the paper up.
- Fold the hem onto itself wrong sides together and press the web adhesive into the fold.
