aside from the cotton jersey, is there any other natural fabric it could be made from? Does it HAVE to be 100% stretch? I’m thinking that there are a lot of long scraps leftover?
If you’re looking for a natural fabric option, bamboo jersey is a great choice. Keep in mind that the fabric requires a good amount of stretch to achieve the intended fit and look. If you prefer to use fabric with a lower stretch percentage, consider sizing up. Please refer to the finished garment measurements chart and measure the patterns to ensure your desired fit. Additionally, note that this dress has no closure, which is why it is made with a highly stretchy fabric.
This would be absolutely adorable in a kids’ size (mommy and me) and in a cloth that isn’t see-through. I’m thinking a cotton poplin or batiste?
Love this dress! If I were to make it with a woven, non-stretch fabric, should I go up a size? Or how should I proceed?
Thanks in advance ☺️
Yes, I would recommend to go up a size.
ummmm… loving the new patterns lately
the pattern, page 3, says to cut 2 of the full-length front pieces, but I’m not seeing where in the directions to use more than 1 front piece (plus front lining). I don’t have enough fabric to cut 2, so am hoping that’s a mistake?
There was an error on page 3 of the pattern. You only need one piece. This issue has been corrected in the updated pattern.
Partway through making this, and there are a few things I’ve noticed:
1, there is no XL size on the chart – it skips straight from L to 2XL.
2, there is no “notch” on the skirt portion to mark where to sew the side seams to. I’m getting there by trial and error, but it makes knowing where to sew to challenging!
The pattern has been updated to include the notches with all sizes. Please download it again and print only the pages corresponding to your size (refer to the attached image for guidance).
Does the top ruffle only come in one size? The markings are only for 4XL, while the skirt ruffle has them all overlapping on the fold line. And can somebody explain how the notch at front center neckline works? Thanks!
The top ruffle is identical for all sizes. Ensure that the notch on the front neckline aligns with the notch on the top ruffle. After sewing the two ruffle pieces together (step 3), match the notch on the ruffle with the notch on the front neckline. Then, sew from that notch to one shoulder, and repeat the process from the notch to the other shoulder.
I am going to make this with a silver and black crushed velvet with black chiffon for the ruffles. A goth girl’s summer dream! Thanks!
Hello I was thinking to do the same but I don’t know how much from the 7 yards is needed for the ruffle so I can get it
Size XL is missing from the pattern.
The pattern has been updated, so feel free to download it again. If you need the XL size, it’s actually included in the old pattern. Please note, the size labeled as 2XL is actually XL. The missing size was 3XL, and there was an error in the line style, which has now been corrected.
Sorry for the dumb question…is the top ruffle cut along the solid lines of the “circle” inwards?..to make one long ruffle?
That’s correct, the top ruffle is one long piece.
