I love it
Why didn’t the pattern come with pockets? I know it’s an easy addition for most, but why make us think about it? Side seams at the least, but a pouch on the top, patches on the bum, and even cargo pockets would all be nice.
Hello, we appreciate your request and will keep it in mind for future patterns as this pattern is intended to be as beginner-friendly as possible. If you would like to add patch pockets, you can download a patch pocket pattern from The Bivalvia Beach Romper and follow the instructions on the post. If you prefer side seam pockets, you can download the pocket pattern from The Marisol Jumper and watch our youtube tutorial on “How to add a side seam pocket to any garment.” For cargo pockets, you can download the pattern for a cargo pocket on The Adair Cargo Pants and follow the instructions on the post.
Are the seam allowances added to the pattern or do I have to add them afterwards? thanks for the reply
Hello, the pattern has 1/2″ seam allowance included already.

How much fabric would you recommend for just the pants and just the top?
I want to make Christmas sets but don’t necessarily want to use the same fabric for the top and bottoms.
Hello, this pattern requires 1.5 yards for the top and 1.5 yards for the bottom if you are making a size small.
I love this pattern is very easy to sew and cut. I made it out of jersey and its my favorite longsleeve.
Hello, I’d like to know which size would you advise me to cut in rib cashmere fabric for a 1.25 m hip. Is this pattern layered?
Thank you for the beautiful design.
I would probably recommend a size 2X for a 49 inch hip. And unfortunately, we do not offer layered patterns at this time.
Could you guys suggest how to lay out the pattern because it suggests three yards of the fabric and I have four yards of this flannel I wanted to use and the pattern pieces seem gigantic Even though I tested the size and it printed fine… It seems like you need 5 yards to make this thing… And I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong.
Hello, we have added a cutting layout to this post for every size. It is always recommended to get an additional half yard. 3 yards are needed for sizes XXS to S, 3.6 yards for M to XL, and 5 yards for 2XL to 4XL.
I’m having trouble cutting this out of just 3 yards. Is there a layout guide?
Hello, we have added a cutting layout for every size in the post.
Hola!!

We are so happy you found your first free Mood pattern! Hopefully it will be the first of many! Welcome to the Mood Fabrics Sewciety Blog & Happy Sewing 🙂
Great pattern for an easy-sew pajama or casual around-town shirt. This pattern is aimed at taller person than my 5’2” self, so I did need to adjust arm and leg length. I made the shirt with no further modifications in a cotton double knit and found myself reaching for it nearly every weekend since when running errands. I just finished the whole pattern in a flannel for a cozy set of pajamas. A couple of modifications: on the pants I added pockets using the pocket pattern from the Rosalie shirt dress, and didn’t add the elastic at the bottom of the leg, hemming it instead. This gave me a more traditional pajama pant. On the shirt, when sewing with woven the neck hole was not large enough to go over my head so I cut in a 2” slit in the front neckline. This is a great base!
Great to hear, we hope you enjoyed creating this free sewing pattern!
How does sewing the neckline work with no binding? I see a few notches in the photo. Are you just stretching the seam allowance as you sew as you would with binding? (I’m a beginner sewist and new to knits!)
Hello, this sample was finished with a hem around the neckline. If you prefer an alternate way to finish the neckline, you can create a neck binding with the same fabric or a rib knit.
Love it
Thank you! We’re so happy you love the Lydia Loungewear Set—happy sewing! ✨
I love the pattern, I do not like the color of fabric, does this fabric come in different colors. any other suggestions.
Hi Patricia, here is a link to wool knit fabrics! In the blog post, next to (or underneath) the technical flat drawing, we list alternative recommended fabric types as well. The fabric we used has an industry weight of 281 GSM and is composed of 100% wool. We list the fabric weight (GSM) for each fabric product on our website, as it is a useful detail for selecting alternative options of similar weight! Happy Sewing! ✨
I see sizes listed with body measurements but I can’t find how much material is recommended for each size. How much are needed for (each) 2x, 3x, and 4x?
Hi Susan! We sewed a size small for this tutorial and used about 2.5 yards of 55″ width fabric. For 55″ width fabric, we recommend purchasing 3 yards for sizes XXS-S; purchasing 4 yards for sizes M-XL; and 5 yards for sizes 2XL-4XL.
Good afternoon, good morning, good evening wherever you may be in the world. I have to say I absolutely love this pattern and I cannot wait to make this in several different fabrics. I’m gonna do lightweight denim, knit and I plan to do a lightweight wool.
I have this beautiful lightweight, navy blue wool fabric that I have been anxiously waiting to use. Thank you for the beautiful simplicity of this free pattern. I’m looking forward to to more..

Hello. I’m getting ready to sew this pattern for the first time. I’m cutting out the pattern pieces and I’m wondering why there are so many sets of waistlines. Is this for shortening?
Hi Liz, each waistline is associated with a different size. You have to cut out the one associated with your size.
Can I use a non stretch cotton fabric for the pants?
You can, just make sure you reference the finished garment measurements when cutting out your size so that its guaranteed to fit.
Hi , I love this pattern , can I download the pattern but Iam 2XL, thank you.
