As resolutions dance in the air, let us make a pact to infuse a sense of beauty and style into our lives. Immerse yourself in the ethereal beauty of the Zea Blazer Redux, a cropped lapel collar blazer adorned with an extension of gathered tulle layers. This is a garment with a harmonious blend of sophistication and whimsy, introducing a modern rhythm to your outfit by influencing it with a youthful and trendy vibe. Draped in a luxurious blush satin and a dreamy sheer tulle, the juxtaposition of the delicate tulle against the structured satin creates a visually striking contrast, making a balance for a true work of art. A well-designed lapel collar adds a touch of classic tailoring to the blazer, providing a polished and timeless look. In essence, the cascade of gathered tulle layers on the Blazer make a fine example of meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful design, transforming a simple blazer into a work of wearable art!
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Zea Blazer redux is crafted from high-quality pink stretch satin, a fabric that not only adds a touch of elegance but also ensures a comfortable and flattering fit. The satin’s subtle sheen imparts a dreamlike quality, elevating its overall aesthetic and making it a standout piece for both daytime and evening wear. Creating a stunning silhouette that gracefully trails behind the blazer, the sheer extension embodies the ethereal essence of the tulle, allowing it to flow with a sense of weightlessness. The blazer begins to exude a sense of movement and dimension, as the layers delicately overlap, building a captivating texture that adds depth to the overall design. The fabric gatherings form a soft, undulating train, adding a touch of red carpet glamour to the blazer’s overall aesthetic. From the runway to your closet, embark on a fashion-forward journey by setting the tone for a year filled with style and a wardrobe that tells your story!

Making the Zea Blazer Redux:
To make this version of the Zea Blazer, you can follow the main step-by-step sewing instructions on our original post. After putting the pattern pieces together, we cropped the blazer above the waist and added an extension of gathered layers. To replicate this redux, measure 7” down from the armhole line and 3” down from the lapel fold line. This will indicate where to slash the original pattern and create the new front and back patterns.

Adding the extension of gathered layers:
This project uses five tiers that increase in size as it reaches the bottom. In order to make gathers, you will first need to sew a basting stitch at the top of each piece. Gather each tier 1/4″ at the top and sew onto the next layer with a 1/2″ seam allowance. To complete a gathered effect, pull the fabric through the loose thread, creating ripples that distribute evenly throughout the garment.

I love this!
Hey! Really love this redux! Trying the out currently but so so stuck on how to add the collar and lapel! From the pics I don’t think this version is lined so I’m guessing that will impact the instructions on the original post for the main construction but even so its still a tricky part!! Grateful for any advice on the collar and lapel/facing attachment or a tutorial! Thank you!
