<h2>Making the Meadow Jumpsuit Redux-</h2>

*NOTE: This is an advanced sewing project and it is recommended that you have experience in sewing. Please refer to the sewing instructions on the <a href=”https://blog.moodfabrics.com/the-meadow-jumpsuit-free-sewing-pattern/”>original blog post</a> on how to make the jumpsuit.

<h3>Sleeve Swap:</h3>

The biggest change on the redux is the exchange for large, dramatic sleeves. This new jumpsuit gracefully wears the sleeves from the <a href=”https://blog.moodfabrics.com/the-clover-crop-top-free-sewing-pattern/”>Clover Crop Top.</a> Download the Clover pattern and print out the sleeve pattern only, pages 1-16, 18-22. When you print out the <a href=”https://blog.moodfabrics.com/the-meadow-jumpsuit-free-sewing-pattern/”>Meadow Jumpsuit</a> pattern, avoid printing out the patterns for the sleeve and sleeve flounce, which are pages 4-7, 14-17.

<h3>Extending the Overlay Pattern:</h3>

For this revamped look, I decided to widen the overlay pattern at the bottom of the pant. If you would like to add more flair to this look, use the pattern of the overlay pant facing and trace out the shape onto pattern paper.

First, use a ruler and add 2″ to the width at the bottom of your new pattern. Second, use a french ruler to smoothly blend the extension point from the bottom of the pattern up towards the top. Once this is completed, cut 1 piece of fabric using the new facing pattern you drafted. Then you will tape this extended pattern piece over the big overlay pattern labeled “left bodice & pant overlay”. Lastly, cut 1 piece of fabric using your new extended overlay pattern.

<h3>Adding a Side Zipper:</h3>

If you use a fabric with no stretch, like this Mikado for example, you will need to install a side zipper in order to fit into the jumpsuit. Choose either side of the jumpsuit and measure 18″ down the side seam to <a href=”https://blog.moodfabrics.com/how-to-install-a-zipper/”>install the zipper. </a>Leave 1/2″ seam allowance at the top of the armscye to sew the sleeve in after the zipper is in place.

<h3>Making a Full Belt:</h3>

Using the pieces of 2 fabric you cut from the side tie pattern, sew both pieces together on one end to create 1 long belt. Fold the belt over on the fold line and sew along the edge. Then, use a loop turner to flip the belt outwards. Fold the ends in and sew them closed by topstitching. Use the belt buckle to adjust the belt in place.
