Meet the Amber Two Piece Cheeky Swim Suit, a sleek and timeless swim set designed to make the most of your summer sewing. Made with a UV-protective swimwear tricot from Mood’s Santorini Light Collection, available in over 30 stunning shades, this pattern combines comfort, confidence, and summer style. The suit is fully lined with a soft, breathable PowerNet Mesh in a barely-there nude tone, providing lightweight support without adding bulk.
Simple details make this swim suit universally flattering. The bikini bottoms feature a slightly high-waisted silhouette with gentle ruching along the front sides for a touch of tummy coverage, while the cheeky high-cut leg elongates your figure and highlights all the features you want to show off. Up top, the square-neck bikini top offers the comfort and security of a sports bra while maintaining a feminine, low-cut shape that pairs perfectly with the bottoms. As a finishing touch, the pattern includes an optional matching belt complete with a shiny metal bikini clasp that takes just minutes to sew and instantly elevates the look.
Best of all, the Amber Swim Suit is a quick and approachable project that can easily be completed in a single day. Cut your fabric in the morning and be poolside by the afternoon. Sew it in a vibrant solid like our sample, or choose a bold printed tricot for an eye-catching twist on this clean, classic design. Whether you’re headed to the beach, the pool, or a tropical getaway, the Amber Two Piece Cheeky Swim Suit is ready for every sunny adventure.

Find Your Perfect Fit
The Amber Two Piece Cheeky Swims Suit Sizing Guide is based on the suggested design & wearing ease for this style. You can also choose the size according to your desired finished garment measurements, blending between sizes as needed. Measure the printed patterns to make sure the dimensions are according to the desired fitting and adjust if needed before cutting the fabric. For best results, sew a test garment in a similar fabric to adjust your pattern.
Note: Measurements may vary after adjustments. If using non-stretch fabrics, reference the approximate finished garment measurements chart to choose your size.
Note: Always read all the instructions before cutting the fabric!
How to Sew The Amber Two Piece Cheeky Swim Suit
The instructions provided below are designed to guide you through sewing the Amber Two Piece Cheeky Swim Suit from start to finish.
3 Tips for Sewing with Tricot
⇒ Make sure to switch out the needle on your sewing machine for a ballpoint needle, which is made for stretch fabrics.
⇒ Use a rotary cutter and self-healing cutting mat to cut out the pattern pieces. It will prevent the fabric from moving around as much as you’re cutting and will ensure your pattern pieces are symmetrical.
⇒ Use a zigzag stitch to connect ALL your pieces together. This will allow the fabric to stretch with you without popping seams open. Alternatively, you can use the straight stretch stitch on your machine, which is the stitch that looks like 3 straight stitches all lined up next to each other.

Step 1
BOTTOM LINING
- Place the bottom front lining right sides together with the bottom back lining.
- Pin the front and back lining pieces together at the side seams and crotch seam.
- Sew the bottom lining at the side and crotch seams.
Step 2
TOP LINING
- Place the top front lining right sides together with the top back lining.
- Pin the front and back lining pieces together at the side seams and shoulder seams.
- Sew the top lining at the side and shoulder seams.
Step 3
TOP OUTER
- Repeat the same process with the main fabric top as you did with the lining top in step 2.
Step 4
RUCHING
- Sew two parallel straight stitches with a stitch length of 4 millimeters on both sides of the front bottom piece. Make sure you do this on the main fabric front bottom piece, not the lining. It needs to be tall enough to gather at the sides.
- Pull on the top threads of the gathering stitches to ruche the side of the bottoms.
Step 5
BOTTOM OUTER
- Place the gathered front bottom piece right sides together on the back bottom piece.
- Pin the front and back bottom pieces together at the sides and crotch seams.
- Sew the side and crotch seams, making sure that the gathers are evenly distributed along the belly.
Step 6
LEG HOLES
- Place the bottom lining right sides together inside of the main fabric bottoms.
- Pin the lining and the main fabric together around ONE of the leg opening.
- Sew around the leg opening.
- Flip the bottoms right sides out and press the lining so that it is hidden inside of the main fabric bottoms.
- Reach between the main fabric and the lining to pinch the fabric right sides together on the other leg hole.
- Place a few pins around the other leg hole to keep the pieces right sides together.
- Sew along the pins.
- Flip the bottoms right sides out and press the other leg opening.
Step 7
BOTTOM WAISTLINE
- Reach between the lining fabric and the main fabric at the waistline and pinch the two fabrics right sides together at the side seams.
- Pin the fabrics right sides together at the side seams.
- Place pins around the rest of the perimeter of the waistline with the fabrics right sides together.
- Sew around the waistline, except for a small 2 inch wide gap, through which we will flip the bottoms right sides out.
- Flip the bottoms right sides out through the hole in the waistline.
- Topstitch over the waistline of the bottoms with a stretch stitch, making sure the hole in the waistband gets sewn shut.
- Topstitch over the leg openings in the same manner as the waistline.
Step 8
TOP NECKLINE
- Place the lining top right sides together inside of the main fabric top.
- Pin the lining top to the main fabric top around the entire neckline, right sides together.
- Sew around the neckline.
- Clip the rounded corners of the neckline.
- Flip the bikini top right sides out and press the neckline seam flat.
Step 9
ARM HOLES
- Reach between the lining fabric and the main fabric of the top towards the armpit of the armscye.
- Grab the lining and main fabric at the armpit of the bikini top and pinch them right sides together.
- Pin the fabrics right sides together at the armpit.
- Place pins around the rest of the armscye to hold the fabric right sides together.
- Sew around the armscye.
- Clip the rounded edges of the armscye seam allowance.
- Flip the bikini top right sides out.
- Repeat for the other arm hole.
- Press both arm holes so that the lining is hidden on the sides of the top.
Step 10
TOP WAISTLINE
- Using the same method that you did for finishing the waistline of the bikini bottoms in step 7, finish the bottom hem of the bikini top.
- Leave a small gap in the bikini top waistline through which the top can be turned right sides out.
- Sew around the bikini top waistline except for the gap.
- Flip the top right sides out.
- Topstitch around the bottom hem of the bikini top, making sure that the gap is closed by the topstitch.
Step 11
BELT
- Cut a strip of fabric that is 2 inches wide and 1 inch longer than the measurement of your waist.
- Fold the strip of fabric longways right sides together.
- Sew the strip into a closed tube with a ⅛ inch seam allowance and a zigzag stitch.
- Flip the tube right sides out with a tube turner.
- Insert one of the ends of the tube into the opening on one side of the bikini clasp.
- Fold the end of the tube onto itself and topstitch it to the belt to secure that end of the clasp.
- Do the same thing with the other end of the tube and the other side of the clasp.
